About the client

A well-funded private equity firm sought to launch a new company dedicated to providing secure 5G services to the US Department of Defense, and federal, and state government entities, with the mission of positioning the US at the forefront of 5G technology by building a secure 5G architecture from the ground up.

The Challenge

5G promised to revolutionize industries and drive significant economic growth. However, the US had fallen behind China and other countries in the race to adopt and deploy 5G.

5G’s open standards made it vulnerable to attacks by adversarial nation-states, posing risks to US critical infrastructure, data security, and privacy.

The US urgently needed to adopt a radically different approach to 5G design and deployment, prioritizing a domestically sourced, developed, controlled, and highly secure standalone 5G networking and computing platform.

JLA Approach

Helped to define the overall mission, vision, strategy, and plan for the new venture, including developing positioning papers, designing the end-to-end 5G technology architecture, and engaging with key stakeholders in the Federal Government and Pentagon.
Assembled a team of experienced professionals who shared a common vision and filled key roles such as CEO, CSO, CFO, CTO, and other subject matter experts.
Oversaw all day-to-day operations, including responding to DoD requests for proposals, securing SBIR funding, negotiating partnerships and vendor contracts for RAN hardware and core network development, and fundraising from investors.
